Bird Rehabilitators

List of Bird Rehabilitators By County

General information - PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE CALLING ONE OF THE PEOPLE BELOW.

You should NOT try to care for a bluebird or other wild bird yourself, except on a very temporary basis until you can find a licensed rehabilitator.  If you find a baby bird, always try to find the nest and return the bird to it.  If you do this, observe the nest from a distance to make sure the parent birds are still around.  If you do not see the parent birds returning for an hour or two, or can't find the nest, get the young bird to a rehabilitator as soon as you can.

Birds with obvious trauma injuries need help immediately.  In most cases, you will need to drive the bird over to the location of the nearest bird rehabilitator.  If you can't find one, or they are too far away, find a local veterinarian who is willing to help.

In general, local bird rehabilitators are very busy people who don't have the budget or time to pick birds up.  So, help them out by driving the bird(s) to them.  Also, please leave a donation when you drop off a bird to help defray their expenses.

Again, NEVER feed a baby bird ANYTHING unless a licensed bird rehabilitator instructs you to do so.  Otherwise, you could unknowingly be decreasing the bird's chances of survival.

Here is a list of state-licensed rehabilitators by Michigan county.  Contact information is included as well as the type of birds and animals each rehabilitator is licensed to care for.
