|9th Annual Thornapple Woodpecker Festival|
Grand Rapids Audubon Club invites you to attend the 9th annual Thornapple Woodpecker Festival in Middleville, MI on April 27. The festival features birding walks of the woodpecker nesting area along the river and the Paul Henry-Thornapple Trail. Canoe and kayak touring is also possible, as the woodpeckers nest in trees along the river. This event is free to the public with the exception of a small donation if you choose to take a golf cart ride. The paved Paul Henry - Thornapple Trail follows the Thornapple River and has been called the most beautiful railtrail in Michigan. The area has an established population of the rare Red-headed Woodpecker, as well as all the other five eastern US woodpeckers. Plan to park behind the Village Hall or on the street.
