Early Bird Registration Now Open - Whiting Forest of Dow Gardens Birding Festival

Whiting Forest of Dow Gardens has opened Early Bird Registraton for the Whiting Forest of Dow Gardens Birding Festival.  Early Bird Registration will be open from April 29 thru July 10, 2019.   During that period cost to attend the festival is $295 for Basic Admission and $330 for Full.  July 11 thru August 23 General Registration will be held.  Cost during that time will be $330 for Basic Admission and $365 for Full.  The festival wlll be held September 19 thru September 21, 2019. 

Attendees will learn from more than 20 distinguished conservationists, researchers, photographers, naturalists, and environmental educators. Over 30 dynamic sessions will be offered on topics such as Kirtland’s Warbler Conservation, raptor identification, and birding by ear. The capstone of the festival is keynote speaker, David Allen Sibley, presenting The Art of Identification. Sibley is the author and illustrator of the series of successful guides to nature that bear his name, including The New York Times best seller The Sibley Guide to Birds. .

Festival meals provided by the H Hotel: breakfast (9/20 – 9/22), lunch (9/20), dinner (9/20 and 9/21)  

Evening reception at Whiting Forest including: after-dark canopy walk tours, refreshments, origami activity, campfire social 

Admission to keynote speaker, David Allen Sibley presenting The Art of Identification, followed by a book signing 

Eligibility to participate in a “Fowl Prowl” downtown scavenger hunt, with a chance to win a prize

Full Admission Includes
Includes everything above, plus: two half-day field trips and workshops (carpool) OR one full day field trip (van transportation provided)

To improve the nesting success of the Eastern Bluebird & other native cavity-nesting birds in the state of Michigan through education of our members and the general public, as well as promoting active nest box management and habitat improvement.


Proceeds go to help bluebird conservation.
